ICT BASIC CONCEPTS

Information and communications technology (ICT) plays a significant role in our modern world. It encompasses all forms of hardware and software that are used for information collection, processing, and dissemination.

Some computer parts:

  1. Monitor: used for the projection of graphics and text.
  2. Mouse: a device for pointing and moving the cursor on the screen.
  3. Keyboard: the device employed to input commands in the computer.
  4. Printer: an output device that allows printing of hard copies of documents.
  5. Hard disk: a storage device that allows storage of data for future use.
  6. RAM: the part of a computer that provides temporary storage to access data easily.

Processing Unit of a Computer System

  • There are some devices known as input devices where data is given, the CPU processes the data, and data output is released via output devices. This loop is important, for example, in writing documents or surfing the internet.

Software Types:

  1. System software, for instance, Windows, Linux, and other operating systems, is the software that operates the computer.
  2. Software used for the performance of certain operations, for instance, word processing and browsing, among others, is called application software.

One becomes more familiar with ICT, which is crucial for adapting to the life of technological advancement.
